The TDC-GPX chip from Acam-Messelectronic GmbH and distributed in the U.S. by Transducers Direct LLC, Miamiville, OH, is a time-to-digital converter with a resolution as low as 10 ps and suited for use in navigation systems, missile defense systems, rangefinders, speed measurement devices, and medical imaging scanners. The GPX has 4 selectable operating modes. I-mode provides 8 LVTTL input channels, 81 ps resolution, and infinite measurement range. G-, R-, and M-modes provide either 2 LVTTL or 2 LVPECL input channels. In G-mode, resolution is 40 ps and measurement range is 65 µs; in R-mode resolution is 27 ps with 40 µs measurement range; and in M-mode, resolution is 10 ps rms with a peak-to-peak of 10 ps and measurement range is 10µs.
