The MEC102 from Infinite Power Solutions Inc., Littleton, CO, is a solid-state, thin-film, single-cell battery that is 170 µm thick and provides a self-discharge rate of <1% charge loss/yr. The battery is offered in multiple capacity options up to 2.5 mAh and up to 10 mWh (36 J) of energy; provides 100 mA and 300 mW continuous discharge rate capability; has an all inorganic solid-state construction, including electrolyte; and is rechargeable to >10,000 deep discharge cycles. Applications include remote/autonomously powered wireless sensors, security systems, remote controls, memory and real-time clock backup, semi-active RFID tags, powered cards, military and aerospace, and energy harvesting and perpetual power systems. The batteries can be stacked vertically for more power and capacity.
