The LFS 270-UW from Cooper Instruments & Systems, Warrenton, VA, is a submersible version of the company's LFS 270 miniature tension/compression load cell. The 0.63 in. by 0.75 in. by 0.25 in. device is available in 9 ranges from 100 g to 100 lb. and provides a 1–2 mV/V nominal output, depending on load range. Features include 1–3% of rated output nonlinearity, safe overload of 1000% of rated output, and a temperature range of –17°C to 72°C (15°C–72°C compensated). The aluminum device (SS for higher load models) uses metal foil strain gauge technology and is suited for use in automotive, aerospace, and automation industries for applications such as fuel tank fullness measurements.
