The Type 9238A strain transmitter from Kistler Instrument Corp., Amherst, NY, is designed to sense the impact of mold clamping in injection molding machines to protect against overclamping of the mold halves. The sensor mounts on the moveable member supporting the mold and senses the strain (clamping force). The amplifier output signal integrates into the machine's control system. You can preset measuring ranges and other functions, such as signal inversion and signal offset. The device combines the sensor and miniature amplifier into a single compact unit that mounts with a single M6 screw.
