DT Series strain sensors from Columbia Research Labs Inc., Woodlyn, PA, are designed to measure fatigue in tight spaces for critical aircraft undercarriage structures and surfaces. DT3625 sensors are 0.45 by 0.25 by 0.14 in., and weigh 13 g. Foil DT3617 sensors measure the planar shear-strain forces when the axis of principal strain is identified. DT3715 sensors measure strain and temperature on curved surfaces while DT3716 sensors measure both strain and temperature on straight mounting surfaces. Applications include monitoring fatigue loading experienced by aircraft under various conditions of flight speed, weight, and mission configuration.
