Promising to eliminate drift while lowering cost for smart phones, tablets, gaming devices, digital compasses, and GPS navigation, the IST8303 three-axis digital magnetometer sensor employs an interrupt function (INT) to detect the occurrence of extraordinary external magnetic fields. If an output value exceeds 16 Gauss, the device enables an INT register. Residing in a 12-pin, 1.6 mm x 1.6 mm x 1 mm BGA package, the IST8303 outputs 14-/16-bit data over a magnetic field range of ±1600 uT.
