Diversified Technical Systems (DTS) Inc., Seal Beach, CA, offers the 6DX ruggedized ultrasmall six degrees of freedom sensor that incorporates 3 linear accelerometers and 3 angular rate sensors in a 28 by 28 by 16.5 mm package that weighs 26 g. The device provides 6 channels of output, enabling calculation of an acceleration vector and its orientation in space with respect to time. Designed for high-speed impact environments, the device has a 6000 g shock rating; the internal accelerometers are available in ranges from ±20 g to 6000 g and the internal angular rate sensors are offered in ranges from ±300°/s to ±50,000°/s.
