The XR33032/5/8 RS-485 transceivers offer a wide operating supply range from 2.8V to 5.5V, making them desirable for isolated apps where remote devices derive power through a cable. They tolerate significant voltage drops along the cable resistance while maintaining RS-485-compliant output and performance levels. Other features include ±18V fault tolerance for direct shorts to dc or ac, ±70V transient protection, and ESD ratings exceeding IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4. The XR33032/5/8 are available in industry eight-pin NSOIC packages with prices starting at$1.65 each/1,000. A datasheet is available at https://www.exar.com/common/content/document.ashx?id=21512
