The LTC2862-2865 family of rugged, high-voltage-tolerant RS-485/RS-422 transceivers from Linear Technology Corp., Milpitas, CA, provide protection and reliability for serial applications. Features include ±60 V overvoltage fault protection on data transmission lines, support for 20 Mbps and low-EMI 250 Kbps data rates, 3–5.5 V supply voltage, ±25 V extended common-mode range, guaranteed failsafe receiver operation, ±15 kV ESD interface pins and ±8 kV all other pins, and the ability to support up to 256 nodes. The transceivers are offered in commercial, industrial, and automotive temperature grades.
