Rotary Position Sensor Provides Contactless Operation

A member of Turck’s Q-track family, the QR24 rotary position sensor provides contactless position detection and wear-free performance. It employs resistance inductive capacitance (RLC) measuring technology, which consists of a printed emitter and receiver coil system. The emitter coils become active with a high frequency ac field and produce an inductive RLC circuit with the positioning element. The element inductively couples with the receiver coils, which induce different voltages in the coils depending on the position of the actuator. Essentially, these voltages serve as a measure for the sensor signal. Other features include a high resolution, 16-bit noiseless operation, a double resonator system, a fully potted and sealed IP69K/IP67-rated housing, and flexible parameterization.
