The AS5132 from austriamicrosystems AG, Unterpremstaetten, Austria, is a magnetic rotary position sensor IC that provides accurate angular measurement even at very high rotation speeds. The SoC combines integrated Hall elements, an analog front end, and digital signal processing. Suited for use in industrial and automotive brushless DC (BLDC) motors, the device is highly resistant to stray magnetic fields and features dynamic compensation for angle errors attributable to propagation delay; <22 µs propagation delay; angle measurement accuracy to within ±3° max.; measurements in motors rotating at up to 80,000 rpm; and the ability to operate in a magnetic field as weak as 20 mT.
