The EM4325V11 battery-assisted passive (BAP) RFID chip from EM Microelectronic, Marin, Switzerland, has a calibrated temperature sensor that enables remote temperature monitoring using the EPC Gen2 wireless protocol. The integrated temperature sensor monitors the ambient temperature from –40°C to 60°C with 9-bit measurement accuracy of up to 0.5% over the full temperature range and can be used for field-powered snapshot readings when operating in pure passive mode. Alternatively, the chip can be programmed to perform self-monitoring using user-programmable alarm conditions. The chip complies with ISO/IEC 18000-6 Type C and Type D (TOTAL); EPC Class 1 Gen2; AIAG B-11; and ATA 2000 and contains 4 Kbits of EEPROM.
