Series 2300 and 2500 reaction torque sensors from Force/Torque Div., PCB Piezotronics Inc., Depew, NY, are for torque measurements on starters, alternators, air conditioning compressors, power-steering gearboxes, and water pumps. The strain-gauge sensors feature high torsional stiffness and flange mounting and are available in F.S. capacities from 5000–500,000 in.-lb. Units are supplied with a shunt calibration resistor and their calibration is traceable to NIST. Other applications include testing brake torque, bearing friction small motor dynamometers, pumps, stepping switch torque, and fluid viscosity.
