Q-S Technologies Inc., Meriden, CT, offers specially designed cables with vent tubes for down-hole pressure transducer applications. The cables are typically insulated with materials such as ETFE, FEP, and PFA; most designs incorporate a ventilation tube to help compensate for the changes in atmospheric conditions between the surface and down in the holding tanks. The vent tubes are typically of polyethylene, FEP, Teflon, or polyurethane. An overall shield of braided tinned copper or aluminum-Mylar protects against EMI. Applications include clean-water well monitoring, wastewater treatment systems, marine and harsh environments, oil and gas reservoir monitoring, and food, beverage, and dairy markets.
