KEPServerEX v5.3 from Kepware Technologies, Portland, ME, adds DNP3.0 Ethernet and DNP3.0 Serial drivers to the DEPServerEX v5 Suite of communications protocols. The OPC server can now coordinate device communications over virtual networks. DNP was developed for electric utilities and power distribution, allowing communication between substation computers, RTUs, intelligent electronic devices, and master stations, but is also used in water/wastewater management, transportation, and the oil and gas industries. KEPServerEX v5.3 now features improved optimization for low-bandwidth and noisy communication channels, new diagnostic messages, and the Link Tags feature that lets you bridge data between tags from one driver to another using different protocols.
