The AD9670 from Analog Devices Inc., Norwood, MA, is an 8-channel ultrasound receiver with onchip digital I/Q demodulation and decimation filtering. The device can condition 8 channels of data from RF to a baseband frequency, reducing the processing load on the system FPGA. Features include an integrated low-noise amplifier, variable gain amplifier, anti-aliasing filter, and 14-bit ADC with a 125 Msps sampling rate and 75 dB SNR. Power consumption is 130 mW/channel at 40 Msps in time-gain compensation mode and 55 mW/channel in continuous wave (CW) mode. Applications include mid- to high-end portable and cart-based ultrasound systems.
