Convir EL Series miniature IR sensors from Calex Electronics Ltd., Leighton Buzzard, U.K., can measure temperatures from –20°C to 500°C with a 200 ms response time and accuracy up to ±1°C. You can choose from 2:1, 10:1, and 30:1 FOVs to ensure that even small or remote targets can be measured. Emissivity is 0.95 and output is 4–20 mA. To replace existing thermocouples, EL sensors can have simulated Type K and J outputs; other outputs include 0–50 mV, 0–100 mV, 1 mV/°C, 10 mV/°C, and 0–5 V. Applications include measuring nonmetallic targets such as foodstuffs, rubber/plastic, pharmaceuticals, paper, and textiles.
