The robust, self-contained L-GAGE LH Series laser sensor from Banner Engineering Corp., Minneapolis, MN, provides accurate, stable, continuous noncontact precision displacement and thickness measurements for materials such as wood, metal, rubber, ceramic, and plastic parts. The device's 1024-pixel CMOS linear image sensor can achieve up to 1 µm resolution under nominal conditions. The sensor provides target displacement or thickness measurement with high-resolution 4–20 mA or RS-485 outputs. You can configure two sensors to self-synchronize for thickness measurements or create a network of up to 32 sensors to perform multiple, simultaneous inspections.
