National Instruments, Austin, TX, offers a stand-alone version of its CompactDAQ modular DA system. The system features an Intel Core i7 dual-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of nonvolatile storage; an 8-slot chassis that lets you mix and match a variety of the company's C Series I/O modules to create custom measurement and logging systems; USB, Ethernet, and serial ports; the ability to stream data to disk at up to 30 MBps; and compatibility with LabVIEW 2012. The combination of the hardware and software lets you customize a data logging or embedded monitoring system.
