MMS sensors from Meder Electronic Inc., West Wareham, MA, are micro-miniature, hermetically sealed reed switches designed for low-voltage and low-power switching devices up to 3 V max. The devices require a magnet for actuation but consume no power. Features include high shock resistance, max. rated power of 0.3 mW, max. 2 VDC switching voltage, max. 0.1 mA switching current, and max. 0.1 mA carry current. The devices can be used in medical pacemakers and insulin pumps, in telecommunications, and in PDAs and cellphones.
