Microchip Technology Inc., Chandler, AZ, offers the PIC18F1330 and PIC18F1230 8-bit microcontrollers for open-loop and low-end closed-loop motor control that isn't algorithmically intensive. The microcontrollers feature a 14-bit, 8-phase PWM module with up to 3 channels of complementary outputs, edge- or center-aligned operation, override logic for special commutation functions, programmable dead-band delay, fault inputs for hardware shutdown, and output override functions. Other features include up to 8 KB of Flash memory, 128 bytes of EEPROM, 256 bytes of RAM, two 16-bit timers, three 10-bit ADCs, 3 comparators, and a LIN interface.
