The Fastcam SA-1 from Photron Inc., San Diego, CA, offers 5000 megapixel resolution frames/s and is for high-speed imaging of very fast-moving objects with little or no operator training. The camera is available in two memory configurations: 8 GB for 6 s at 1000 full frames/s and 16 GB for 12 s at 1000 full frames/s. Max. speed at reduced resolution is 150,000 frames/s. The camera supports IRIG/GPS inputs to meet time stamping and synchronization requirements and features control via Gigabit Ethernet, remote control via keypad, a built-in LCD, and SDI and RS-170 video outputs. An optional particle image velocimetry facility is also available.
