Spartan Series wireless radios for government and defense markets from FreeWave Technologies, Boulder, CO, incorporate FIPS 140-2 encryption technology for secure long-range communications. Suited for applications such as command and control of unmanned systems, the radios enable data links to pass secure encrypted data reliably and on a real-time basis. Initial configurations available for the Spartan Series include 2.4 GHz serial, 2.4 GHz Ethernet, 1.3 GHz serial, 1.3 GHz Ethernet, and 225–400 MHz serial. Features include up to 32 unique crypto keys, remote capability to zero an individual key or all keys, NSA Suite B algorithms, ability to upgrade to a DS-101 key loading interface, advanced key handling architecture, and pending FIPS 140-2 Level 2 certification.
