The LC 200 linear scale from Heidenhain Corp., Schaumburg, IL, provides absolute position for measurement lengths up to 28 m and is designed to provide linear measurement on long machine-tool axes. The device is assembled on the machine from individual components. System accuracy is ±5 µm with the current EnDat interface. Features include a highly-integrated opto-ASIC for a smaller scanning unit and a METALLUR steel scale tape with two graduation tracks for absolute position. Absolute position value is available immediately on switch on.
