Freescale Semiconductor, Austin, TX, offers medium- and high-acceleration accelerometers for next-generation automotive airbag systems. The MMA6222EG, MMA6255EG, and MMA621010EG are based on high-aspect-ratio MEMS (HARMEMS) technology for improved sensor offset performance and overdamping response. Sensors accommodate 3.3 and 5 V supply voltages and let you use digital or analog outputs. Features include XY axis of sensitivity in a single device; 10-bit output; ±20 g, ±50 g, or ±100 g F.S. range per axis; F.S. range specified independently for each axis; selection of integrated signal conditioning low-pass filters; first-order IIR high-pass filter option; SPI-compatible interface; bidirectional internal self-test; support for signed or unsigned output data, and an operating temperature range of –40°C to 105°C.
