Inertial Motion Sensors Boost Portable Device Sensitivity

December 3, 2013

STMicroelectronics debuts a family of always-on 6-axis inertial motion sensors that boast of the industry’s lowest power requirements, ultra-compact packaging, and extensive design flexibility. The family sports a unique six-axis inertial motion-sensing device that can run all sensor-related functions as well as application-specific software onboard while consuming up to 40% less power than comparable devices. The latest device in the iNEMOTM smart-sensor family, the LSM6DB0 six-axis smart sensor employs an ARM Cortex microprocessor core and is said to be the only device on the market that can efficiently run all sensor-related features specified in Android KitKat 4.4 on board. Sampling now with volume production scheduled for first half of 2014, the family includes the LSM6DB0, LSM6DS1, and LSM6DS0.
