The EOTec G408M from Ultra Electronics, NSPI, (formerly Weed Instrument), Round Rock, TX, is a fully managed industrial gigabit Ethernet switch with self-healing ring capability. An alarm output on the terminal block can be used to signal error conditions to a PLC or other supervisory device. Features include eight 10/100/1000 Mbps copper ports, 4 of which can be 100/1000 Mbps single and/or multimode fiber ports, fault-tolerant self-healing ring with 30 ms plus 5 ms per hop recovery time, long-haul fiber distances up to 49 miles, dual power inputs, and operating temperature range of –40°C to 75°C.
