The MLX91207 from Melexis, Nashua, NH, is a customer-programmable monolithic Hall sensor IC that can be used to provide contactless current sensing in hybrid electric vehicles, electrical vehicles, and renewable energy applications. The Hall sensor provides a high-speed analog output signal proportional to the external applied flux density and is capable of making DC and/or AC current measurements up to 70 kHz with ohmic isolation, very low insertion loss, and a response time <10 µs when required. Typical accuracy of a current sensing system based on the MLX91207 is better than ±1% at room temperature or ±2.5% over the full –40°C to 125°C temperature range.
