The Model 831 from Larson Davis Inc., Provo, UT, is a Class 1 handheld sound level meter with exceedance-based logging analysis for community noise assessment. The device features real-time 1/1 and 1/3 octave spectra, a 120 dB dynamic range, 10 customizable markers to annotate time-history data, audio voice recording and playback, up to 2 GB of onboard memory, and optional USB 2.0 data stick. The meter provides event-based logging routines that process data onboard to provide time/date, duration, avg. and max./min. sound levels, frequency spectra, and time-history records.
