The MLX92211 from Melexis Inc., Concord, NH, is an automotive latch sensor that uses a very sensitive Hall effect sensor and operates from 2.7–24 V. With latching magnetic behavior, the open drain output is switched on and off by applying South and North magnetic fields perpendicularly to the package's top side. Designed for automotive applications, the device offers an ESD rating to 4000 V, built-in reverse supply voltage protection, output short-circuit protection, and an operating temperature range of –40°C to 150°C. The sensor has stable magnetic switching points of ±3 mT at 25°C, the output is updated every 6 µs, and jitter is ±3 µs. Negative temperature coefficient is –1000 ppm/°C.
