Ramtron Intl. Corp., Colorado Springs, CO, offers the VRS51L3074 8051-based microcontroller with nonvolatile ferroelectric random-access memory (FRAM). FRAM eliminates the code overhead accompanying Flash data storage and allows you to modify FRAM bytes without first erasing an entire sector. The microcontroller features 8 KB of FRAM; a 40 MIPS, single-cycle 8051 microcontroller core; 64 KB Flash memory; 4 KB SRAM; a JTAG interface; DSP extensions; and a robust peripheral set. The device operates at 3.3 V over the industrial temperature range.
