The MAS6011 from Micro Analog Systems Oy, Helsinki, Finland, monitors the supply voltage and charging of a battery-powered system that contains a small solar cell. The device's current consumption is 110 nA, allowing the system to charge from very low light conditions, remain in power-down mode for years, and still operate directly from the battery before recharging. The device also protects the battery from overvoltage conditions. Switching levels are designed for use with rechargeable 3 V lithium vanadium batteries. Applications include wireless sensor modules, GPS modules, electronic locks, watches, and energy harvesting.
