Perpetuum Ltd., Southampton, U.K., offers its PMG17 microgenerator that converts the vibration of AC-powered (50 or 60 Hz) equipment into electrical energy. It is capable of generating sufficient energy to power a wireless transmitter sensing up to 6 KB of critical condition monitoring data every few minutes or smaller amounts of data several times a second. Applications include powering additional sensing points for existing condition monitoring systems.
