The MRF24WB0MA/MB modules from Microchip Technology Inc., Chandler, AZ, are agency-certified embedded Wi-Fi transceiver modules with IEEE 802.11 firmware and an API driver interface to the company's free TCP/IP stack and 8-, 16-, or 32-bit PIC microcontrollers. The devices remove the complexity and cost of developing RF circuitry and obtaining agency certification, enabling more rapid development of wireless remote monitoring and control, M2M, and smart-energy devices. EZconfig and ZeroConfig utility protocols let you commission and configure Wi-Fi networks more easily. A PICtail/PICtail Plus daughter board is available to aid development with the modules.
