ML100-8-W divergent beam sensors from Pepperl+Fuchs Inc., Twinsburg, OH, do not need a reflector and reliably detect clear materials, very small objects over a large area, and glossy materials that can otherwise be a challenge to sense. Features include multicolor LEDs for sensor status, resistance to ambient light, cross-talk protection, PowerBeam alignment with an intense light spot and an industry-standard mounting pattern to reduce set-up time, and an operating temperature range of –30°C to 60°C. Applications include assembly, automotive, and printing for reliable detection of small objects such as wires, yarns, or pins over a wide area.
