MCRT 79700V dual-range digital torquemeters from S. Himmelstein and Co., Hoffman Estates, IL, are capable of measuring torque even if the ratio of peak to average torque is high, such as occurs with starting, stopping, or reversing high-inertia loads; during torsional oscillations; and in diesel and single-cylinder engine/compressor drivelines. The devices have a low range that is 20% of their high range; 3 simultaneous outputs can be set to 5 or 10 V at each range F.S. Overrange is 150%–300% and mechanical overload is 200% of the high range and 1000% of the low range. Digital output of torque, speed, and power with option Z is via RS-232. Software is included.
