Microchip Technology Inc., Chandler, AZ, offers the dsPIC33FJ12GP family of 40 MIPS digital signal controllers (DSCs) for smart sensor processing. The DSCs combine a microcontroller and a DSP core and allow you to implement digital filters to replace analog filters and to use the onchip ADCs to oversample in order to improve SNR. Features include 40 MIPS in 6 by 6 mm packages, 12 KB of Flash and 1 KB of RAM, an ADC with up to 10 channels and user-selectable 10- or 12-bit modes, a UART, an SPI port, and an I2C port. Peripheral Pin Select lets you remap digital I/O to optimize board layout.
