The Summit 8800 from KROHNE Inc., Peabody, MA, is a digital flow computer that lets you plug in up to 6 I/O or communication boards as needed for multiple flow streams, analyzers, or additional network communication options. Features include a dedicated microprocessor with a 0.25 s processing cycle for each I/O board, a removable multigigabyte memory card that can store several years of flow information, scroll-and-click navigation, touchscreen control, multiple redundant Ethernet ports, configurable multilevel access and authorization, separation of fiscal and maintenance data, and a full audit trail with personalized login identification information. Applications include metering of oil, gas, wet gas, steam, and water; bulk chemicals batching; heat exchanger metering and logging; and metering production processes in the pharmaceutical industry.
