The SUNX FM-200 Series digital airflow sensor from Panasonic Electric Works Corp. of America, New Providence, NJ, is for use with air or nitrogen and provides ±3% F.S. precision and high-speed response in an ultra-small package. The MEMS-based device features a 2-color dual digital display to verify sensor operation, flow rate, direction, and output condition; ability to display real-time flow rate or to function as a flowmeter; 8 flow ranges from 0.5 lpm through 1000 lpm in 3 port sizes; and a max. size of 30 by 50 by 80 mm. The sensor chip uses two temperature sensors, one on each side of the heater element, to determine heat distribution. Applications include control of purge gas and air on production lines and checking the seating of transparent objects or suction of objects on collection conveyors with low suction pressures.
