The O5C500 from ifm efector inc., Exton, PA, can verify, sort, and errorproof the presence of objects by color in fast-moving applications. The sensor's transmitter emits pulses of red, green, and blue light and its receiver evaluates the pulsed light reflected from the target to determine the best color for identification. Adjustable sensing range is 15–19 mm and light spot diameter is 2 by 6 mm. Features include 5 selectable tolerance steps to determine differences in color shade, one-step teach function, an auto-detect output that automatically sets a single switching output to PNP or NPN operation, programmable light-on or dark-on operation, 2000 Hz switching frequency, and a connector that rotates 270° for alignment.
