The Anybus X-gateway CANopen from HMS Industrial Networks Inc., Chicago, IL, lets you transfer I/O data between automation devices on EtherNet/IP and CANopen. The configurable, stand-alone gateway mounts to a standard DIN rail. Powered by a 24 V supply the gateway acts as a slave on the EtherNet/IP network and as a master on the CANopen side. CANopen master functionality is configured using a software tool; after the initial configuration has been downloaded to the gateway, the device can pass up to 510 bytes of input and 510 bytes of output data transparently between EtherNet/IP and CANopen. Up to 126 CANopen slaves can be connected to the gateway using up to 128 receive PDOs and 128 transmit PDOs.
