The Maverick IP from MAMAC Systems Inc., Chanhassen, MN, is a sensor appliance that lets perform remote building sensing and control via a Web browser. There are two configurations: one with 4 sensor inputs and 4 relay outputs and one with 8 sensor inputs. Relay outputs can be used for applications including fan or pump operation and starting standby heating or cooling equipment. The unit plugs into a hub or router and incorporates a Web server, analog/digital inputs, and relay outputs and can be powered with any 24 VAC transformer. Data for each input can be logged in a standard CSV file. Email alerts can be sent to any computer, PDA, or cell phone.
