Bluetooth Low Energy Kit from TI

Texas Instruments Inc., Dallas, TX, offers the Bluetooth low-energy SensorTag kit for smartphone app developers. The kit is currently aimed at iOS-based applications and integrates 6 MEMS sensors from third parties including InvenSense (gyro), Kionix (accelerometer), Sensirion (humidity and temperature), TDK (barometer), and a magnetometer and the company's IR temperature sensor. Developers unpack the SensorTag, download the SensorTag app to a smartphone, select a sample application, and demo the app. The kit incorporates the CC2541 Bluetooth low-energy SoC and can be used to develop gadgets that use smartphone apps for control and monitoring.
