The Iver2 man-portable autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) from Ocean-Server Technology Inc., Fall River, MA, can carry a variety of sensors and uses standard geo-referenced charts from NOAA or USGS or satellite images. Rechargeable Li-ion smart battery packs provide mission duration of 10+ hr. at 3 knots on a single charge. Features include a weight of 42 lb., battery-operated WiFi access point for surface communication between the AUV and a laptop, ability to operate at depths to 300 ft., and a tilt-compensated 3-axis digital compass accurate to ±1° at level heading. Windows-based software enables point-and-click mission planning. You can download time-stamped geo-referenced mission data while the vehicle is in the water or after the project is completed.
