August 22, 2007
The APDS-9007 ambient light sensor from Avago Technologies, San Jose, CA, provides a logarithmic output response over brightness from 3 lux to 70 Klux. Designed to follow the human eye's spectral response curve, the sensor produces reliable readings under diverse lighting conditions and is suited for outdoor lighting and solar panels and for mobile applications. The device reduces power consumption and saves battery life in portable mobile devices by enabling the auto adjustment of the LCD backlight intensity and keypad lighting. Operating temperature range is –40°C to 85°C; Vcc supply is from 2–3.6 V.
