The DRV2605 from Texas Instruments Inc., Dallas, TX, is an eccentric rotating mass actuator (ERM) and linear resonant actuator (LRA) haptic driver that is preloaded with a library of 123 distinct haptic effects designed and licensed by Immersion. The driver also features a smart loop architecture to reduce startup and braking time, delivers twice the vibration strength, and consumes 50% less power than competitive solutions. Additional features include reduced system complexity, audio-to-haptics mode that automatically converts audio into haptic effects, and a size of 1.5 by 1.5 mm.
