The Gladiator Acoustic Switch from Hawk Measurement, Middletown, MA, uses acoustic wave technology in a sender/receiver form to provide blocked-chute detection, point-level detection, and anti-collision for heavy machinery. The Gladiator amplifier powers two acoustic-wave transducers, both of which pulse and receive each other's acoustic echoes. When the path between the transducers is blocked, the units detect the presence/absence change of the return signal and trigger a relay for indication or control purposes. Transducers work together or independently to detect pulse interference, do not require contact with the product, and are self-cleaning. Communication options include GosHawk, Modbus, HART, Profibus DP, and DeviceNet.
