April 18, 2007
Atmel Corp., San Jose, CA, offers UC3 Series A 32-bit Flash microcontrollers that deliver 80 Dhrystone MIPS and consume 40 mA at 66 MHz when operating from a 3.3 V supply. Based on the company's AVR32 architecture, the UC3 core has single-cycle DSP instructions that include multipliers and multiply-and-accumulate and executes 1.3 Dhrystone MIPS/MHz. Other features include a pipelined, dual-bank architecture that outputs one word every clock cycle when executing sequential code, 15-channel peripheral DMA controller, a multilayer high-speed bus architecture, Ethernet MAC, ADC, 2 SPI interfaces, 4 USARTS, a synchronous serial controller, a master/slave 2-wire interface, three 16-bit timers, 7 PWMs, and an onchip system manager.
