PLDs Deliver 650W At 905 nmApril 18, 2014
While residing in compact TO-18 packages, the 905D3J08 series pulsed laser diodes (PLDs) can deliver up to 650W of power at 905 nm. The components rely on multi-junction laser technology that employs several epitaxially-integrated emitters with a total emitting area of 200 μm x 10 μm. At a pulse length of 150 ns, the PLDs can hit a peak performance of at least 70W from a single chip. The metal housing allows a higher thermal load, permitting overdriving the diode and eventually conjuring an output up to 650W from a stacked-array design.

Target applications include fiber coupling, low-level laser therapy (an alternative veterinary medical treatment carried out using monochromatic and coherent light to reduce pain, accelerate healing, and fight infections), range finding, speed guns, laser radar, security scanners, laser light curtains, and test and measurement systems.
