The wireless transmitter allows secure monitoring, alarming, and reporting of temperature, relative humidity, CO2, differential pressure, contacts, and other critical parameters.
HELSINKI, FINLAND /Marketwire/ -- Vaisala has launched a new wireless version of its Continuous Monitoring System (CMS), which allows secure monitoring, alarming, and reporting of temperature, relative humidity, CO2, differential pressure, contacts, and other critical parameters in life science applications. Thanks to its ability to connect to any existing network, and therefore eliminating the need for any extra transmitter equipment, the new device, the Vaisala HUMICAP Wireless Humidity and Temperature Transmitter HMT140, significantly reduces the costs of installation when compared with similar systems.
"The new Vaisala wireless system is simple to set up because it disposes of the two most common problems with implementing a new monitoring system or even scaling up from an existing one, namely: the need to overhaul networks and install extra access points," said Jon Aldous, Product Manager for the new device.

The built-in transmitter of the new wireless solution communicates directly with the user's existing network so that there is no need to purchase and install extra transmitters when installing a new sensor. Nor is there any need to install and maintain a dedicated network, which is a huge savings in initial outlay for this type of system. The onboard memory provides point-of-measurement recording by Vaisala's best-in-class sensors so that data is protected from loss due to power failure or network downtime.
The Vaisala HMT140 has a wide temperature operating range of –20°C to 60°C with display and –40°C to 60°C without display. The device can monitor up to two channels using either external or internal sensors. Compact and easy to place, the transmitter has an IP65-rated enclosure, making it optimal for cleanroom environments. Internal batteries come with a 2-year lifespan, and the combined temperature/humidity sensor can easily be switched out to simplify calibration requirements.
This new transmitter will be available in North America and Europe as of January 1, 2013, and globally from March 2013.

The Vaisala Continuous Monitoring System ensures that GxP environments and processes are properly monitored, continuously alarmed, and supported by secure, 21 Part 11–compliant reports. In addition, the CMS helps facilities avoid costs associated with ruined or adulterated products from out-of-specification conditions. With real-time trending and multi-stage alarming, the system ensures against any catastrophic failures by quickly alerting personnel when condition trends indicate possible malfunction. The system comprises a range of Vaisala's best-in-class transmitter and sensor technology, with the easy-to-use software viewLinc. The CMS allows personnel to customize alerts to PC display, mobile devices, dial out, and any combination of alarm methods. In addition, reporting is easy to use and fully customizable.
